Recently it has been announced that there will be several restrictions in The Gambling Act that are going to be changed, such as advertising for online bingo web sites, casinos and bookmakers. This is because there are constantly new disputes about what is considered proper, and what is considered not proper.
There are some strong supporters of lifting some of the strict guidelines in gambling in common areas, such as pubs, arcades, bingo halls and clubs. However, there is also strong opposition, including the widely well-known Salvation Army.
The Salvation Army and others are claiming that lifting the guidelines on gambling will only give those that are addicted to it the ability to indulge in gambling both easier and faster. However, the government refutes these arguments, saying that changing the laws will help protect people, as it will cut down crime and keep the games fair.
The revised law allows television commercials to advertise gambling, including online bingo. This draws in more revenue for the gambling businesses, so many places that offer bingo are cashing in on this new modification and launching multiple television advertising campaigns.
Still, there are others complaining that the government is making more problems than they are solving with this new revised Gambling Act, stating that there are too many loopholes that have yet to be addressed. However, this new law also gives local authority licensing officer’s new power, allowing them to inspect gambling premises in order to enforce the new laws.
