UK Mecca Bingo club worker Ann Copely had a full house for the first and last time that she has ever called the numbers in a bingo game. She has worked for the Mecca Bingo club for forty years, and has done every single job going in the club, except that of bingo caller.
At her last day of work, during a special evening designed to be her farewell, Ann called eyes down for the first time. She said that she could never retire happy unless she finally got a chance to call the numbers. This ended her career in the bingo industry on a very high note, particularly as she called them for a hall that was full of regular bingo players.
I love this story it is so heart warming, just think about working in the same bingo hall for forty years? That is more than half a life-time. It must have been a really exciting moment for her, calling the numbers for a house full of regular bingoers on her last night on the job. I wish I could have been a fly on the wall that evening. Bingo never ceases to amaze me, there are so many feel good stories attached to this game, I doubt there is any other form of entertainment industry that can even match the amount of great stories that come out of a simple game like bingo.
